Peter
Shield, has a long history of involvement with the advertising,
marketing and communication industry throughout Europe.
Born in Stockton-on-Tees
and eductaed at York he took the somewhat unusal decision to walk
down to London with the Nelson Mandela Freedom March.
After a hestitant
start at working as the National Organiser of Commuist Student,
the student wing of the Communist Party of Great Britian he decided
to get a job with a future.
Starting with
five years at the Financial
Times he moved to The
Economist, from there to launch a new newspaper, European
Voice, for The Economist Group in Brussels. After two years
in Brussels he resigned to spend three months cycling round the
Midi and there started his love for the Aude.
Returning to
Brussels he moved into the online world in 1997 by taking up the
role of European Business Development Director for InterAd Sales
Network, then onto European Sales Director for 24/7
Media in Amsterdam running sales team in 14 countries, and taking
revenue from 100,000 euro to 35 million in two years. After a brief
spell in Stockholm working for Emerging Technologies, a Venture
Capitalist, he moved to Paris as Chief Operating Officer at Vivendi
Universal.Net's ad2-one. Today he works as the Director of Strategy
and Business Development for Decision
News Media, a B2B publisher of news and science websites based
in Montpellier. Peter is also President of Decision News Media Inc,
based in Hoboken New Jersey and a Director of Decision News Media
(UK) Ltd based in London. Peter has worked with some of Europe's
largest websites, including www.msn.com,
www.altavista.com,
www.skynet.be,
www.ifrance.com, www.bonjour.fr,
and www.lemonde.fr

He has owned
property in the Midi for the last six years and lived here for the
last five. His latest project is the Domaine de Montrouch, a 50
acre isolated property were he is installing solar heating system,
Photovoltaic panels, water filetering system, wind generators, and
a natural swimming pool (Eventually). He also has fantasies about
growing olives.
He is 39, lives
with his partner, Caroline Coles, and the most stupid dog alive
Mischa, by the riverside in Ribaute. His passions include local
and European history, French and European politics, diving, cycling,
ski-ing and walking in the hills.
