There
is a wide range of accommodation throughout the Aude, Languedoc-Rousillon.
In fact the popularity of buying a secondary home in the South means
that just about everyone knows someone who has an underused place
near a Ryanair
airport.
The most popular are rentals are Gîtes, furnished holiday homes.
These are rented on a weekly basis, Saturday-Saturday. Quality varies
as does price but a guide for a good place is roughly £100/$150/140
euro per week per person. Places with pools or large gardens however
tend to be much costlier. Alternatively, check out local river swimming
as the water is clean and pollution free, particularly the Orbieu.
If you are passing through and speak a little French then a Chambre
d'Hôte is a cheap and friendly alternative to a hotel, these
are rooms in the owners house. Evening meals with the owner are often
included as well as breakfast. Hotels are concentrated in the larger
towns though two star hotels can be found in most places of any size.
Do not bank on every village having a hotel though as the infrastructure
outside of the main tourist drags can be pretty limited. Youth Hostels
are available and cheap. The individual gîtes listed on this

Mike and Suzie run a wonderful little chambre d'hote in the high Aude.
The site includes a guide to the area and sample menus. Quality accomodation
that is fully accessible is sadly rare in the area. This is one of
the exceptions.
